This website is managed by the Association of Environmental Authorities, a more than 50-year-old association which represents local, regional, and county water, wastewater and solid waste agencies in New Jersey, mainly authorities.

The mission of protectNJpublicwater is to arm the New Jersey public with information critical to protecting their interests as water/sewer ratepayers at a time when corporations and private equity firms are pushing to privatize. This website aims to educate people about the impacts of privatizing government-owned water / sewer systems so they can ask informed questions and ensure their community makes a fully informed decision. We aim to alert the public when deals are under discussion, articulate the value of maintaining government ownership and control of these vital services, and provide links to useful resources.
